Washingtonia Robusta
Mexican Fan palm tree
Native to Southern California where it grows in dry areas and canyons, this palm tree requires exposure to the sun preferably in a neutral soil. Less robust than the Filifera, it nevertheless adapts well to a warm climate. With a rapid growth rate, its grey-ish trunk is enlarged at the base and it is then thinner and more graceful than the Filifera at the top. Its tuft of leaves looks like a little shiny green wig at the tip of a neverending stem.
